Beatiful, traditional hotel with old fashioned standards of attentive service with the most fantastic terrace restaurant in the city.

It took us a considerable amount of time to find a room that we liked (eg not looking over a coach park, etc) but the duty manager was unfailingly patient and we ended up satisfied. We then unexpectedly discovered that the following day (Sunday) coincided with what seemed to be a Madrid institution - Sunday brunch at the Ritz - which was delicious!!

I travel all the time for business and stay at some of the best hotels in the world. The Ritz in Madrid is a sad place--and I think I even had a junior suite (though it was very pokey). The whole hotel felt as if it has not been decorated in 30 years, and the furniture and decor in the rooms were so tried and depressing. The previous night I stayed at the Four Seasons in Milan, and earlier in the week at the Soho Hotel in London. These two hotels, while different from each other are in another league. The gym at the hotel was a joke--again as if it hadn't been touched since the 70's.

The outdoor terrace restaurant was gorgeous, a total treat. Have drinks or dinner there and enjoy watching all the beautiful people come and go.

This historic gem remains a jewel. We are now spoiled by this standard-bearer against any others in Madrid, even the nearby Westin Palace. Its convenient location is just a starting point; we loved the entire look and feel of the hotel. Service was exceptional and prompt, and our upgraded suite, a story in itself (an oval parlor!) was available quite soon after our very early morning arrival. We will return here as often as possible.
